     Why labradoodles? When one of my clients comes to me and asks me what a healthy, good temperament, twenty to twenty-five pound breed is, I have trouble thinking of one that compares to a labradoodle.  I find them to be wonderful companion dogs with a temperament that wants to please.

     I feel very strongly about screening for health and temperament and appreciate the genetics that directly affect these traits.

     When we bought Gracie, we had a very specific goal.   We already had a great Black Lab, and an old Cairn Terrier.  My sixteen-year-old, who has ridden horses ever since she was ten, took a bad fall off of her horse in December of 2006.  She broke several bones in her back and pelvis.  It took her out of school from the beginning of December all the way through the end of her sophomore year in June.  She had horrible pain, and had to lie on the couch without moving except to get into bed at night. By the end of March she was able to start physical therapy.  We could tell that she had a long road ahead of her. She has always loved dogs, and I knew that a puppy would be a great companion to help her through her recovery. I started researching Labradoodle breeders, and I found Gracie's litter at Alder Creek Labradoodles.  Gracie was definitely the high point of a very long recovery.  Now Paige and Gracie bring hope to other people as a Delta Society Pet Therapy Partners team where they volunteer at St. Lukes Rehabilitation Center.

          Our goal is to provide people with a great healthy family companion like Gracie.

      Hello! My name is Paige Porter. I am Marybeth's daughter. As she talked about, I hurt my back in December of 2006, and we got Gracie four months into my recovery. She has been a great companion for me. I went through physical therapy for almost two years, but Gracie was without a doubt been my best "therapy."  After all of the incredible help she gave me, I wanted to pass part of that onto others. We completed classes, and passed the Delta Society Pet Partner Test. She is now a registered  therapy dog.  Every other week we go to St. Luke's Rehabilitation, where I received a lot of great physical therapy. It takes a special dog to be a therapy dog, and Gracie is truely amazing with her work with the patients she visits.

     It is great to pass puppies with her lovable temperament onto others.
